It’s lovely to hear comments whilst I am out and about that people are enjoying our story, if you have any feedback good or bad please do feel free to let me know! Quinn is slowly starting to get used to her latest leg, she is almost 18months old and is very independent and wants to do everything on her own. This is quite difficult with her leg because it has to be fastened around her waist so it stays on but we followed the advice from our prosthetist and leave her leg with her toys in the living room, she has started paying a lot more attention to it now it has stickers and things on it. She crawls over to it and picks it up and takes it in bits and begins to start putting it on, we play a little game but the minute I go to fasten it onto her she doesn’t like it so we haven’t yet pushed her to get her to properly wear it because this is a good start that she knows what to do with it etc. Over time we will get her to fasten it herself and then she will be able to wear it as she pleases.
One thing I have taken away from this new progression though is that we are going to try to begin creating covers for her legs of pretty designs so that she will interact and engage with it whilst we are still at the learning front with it. We haven’t yet figured out how we can make the covers, but I am going to start playing around with some ideas and will keep you all updated on how I am getting on with it. We have just received our next appointment for Quinn’s leg speak to them about how she is getting on with it and most likely get some adaptions to it. This is because she is getting bigger so that the waist band will need altering so it’s comfortable for her, which is obviously paramount.
We have been a little quiet on our blog and Instagram recently due to our full household being full of the dreaded colds that are going around for the last 3 weeks. Seems to be doing circles around us all but hopefully we are all on the road to recovery finally! We will be looking for some ideas on what else you would like to see on our blog posts so if you have any ideas please do DM us on Instagram, Facebook or posts comments below.
Hopefully over time we will get Quinn to wear her leg more and more and will have some more updates for you with what the next steps are with regards to progressing with her prosthetics but my next mission is to work out on how to decorate her legs so hopefully next week I will have a picture to show you of the work in progress! We would be delighted if you will continue to read my next blog – updates will be on our Instagram. If you have any questions please do post them below, I would love to answer them for you. We love reading any comments, so it would mean a great deal to us if you post in the comments.
Much love from Natasha, James & Quinn
